Vietnamese tourism starts the year with a bang | Tourism

Hanoi (VNA) – After the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, many localities reported impressive numbers in terms of visitor numbers and tourism receipts. Tourism exploded this month of January, auguring a prolific year for the sector.

In the first five days of the Year of the Cat 2023, Ho Chi Minh City earned about 6.3 trillion dong (over $262 million) in tourism revenue.

For its part, during the six-day Tet holiday, Hanoi attracted 32,000 foreign visitors for more than 1,000 billion dong.

For its part, Khanh Hoa hosted 15 flights departing from China, each carrying 180 to 220 passengers. Overseas visitors who stayed during the six-day Tet holiday numbered 11,300, enabling the central province to confidently set a target of 1.5 million international arrivals this year.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau was among the top three places to attract the most visitors during Tet, with 10,688 international arrivals.

In Tay Ninh, the tourism sector recorded, from January 20 to 26, an annual growth of 88.6% of its receipts, reaching 293.3 billion dong.

Nationwide, about 9 million domestic tourists made spring trips during the six-day Tet holiday, up 47.5 percent from the same period last year. Accommodation establishments recorded a 30-40% growth in bookings from international customers.

With these positive signals, National Tourism Administration Director General Nguyen Trung Khanh said 2023 will be a promising year for Vietnamese tourism.

To attract more foreign visitors, Vietnam has decided to implement groups of measures such as easing visa policy, increasing flights, strengthening tourism human resource training, as well as promoting tourism in the media, participation in international ASEAN tourism events, international fairs in London (UK), Berlin (Germany)…-VNA
