Party leader highlights driving force for rapid and sustainable development

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highlighted the driving force for Vietnam’s rapid and sustainable development in an interview with Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2023 and 93^e anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3).

In 2022, the global and national situation has undergone new and more complicated developments than expected. The world has witnessed rapid, complicated, unpredictable and unprecedented changes. Domestically, Vietnam has been striving both to redress socio-economic development and to address outstanding issues caused by the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the smallpox epidemic, and the consequences of natural disasters.

In this context, with the consensus, the will of the whole political system, Vietnam has achieved and exceeded 14 out of the 15 goals set. The GDP growth rate reached around 8%, against 6 to 6.5% target. Major sectors and areas of the economy have recovered and made substantial progress. Budget revenue increased by 20% compared to 2021, and social investment increased by 12.5%, of which foreign direct investment disbursed reached USD 740 billion, up 10% compared to 2021 (Vietnam continues to rank among the 25 most commercial economies in the world Several major cultural, sporting and festive events, in particular the 31^are SEA Games, were successfully organized.

Political and social stability

In 2022, Vietnam’s GDP grew by 8.02% compared to 2021, registering its largest increase for the period 2011-2022.

He affirmed that thanks to the good implementation of the work of building and reshaping the Party and the political system, the acceleration of the prevention and fight against corruption and unhealthy practices, Vietnam has maintained its stability. political and social, straightened and developed its economy, expanded its foreign relations, consolidated and strengthened the confidence of the people and international friends.

With an active, proactive spirit and a high sense of responsibility, Vietnam has assumed several important functions, including non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, member of the UN Human Rights Council; sent hundreds of officers and soldiers to participate in UN peacekeeping forces. Getting involved in the settlement of many important international issues, the voice of Vietnam, its initiatives and its approach through reasoning and feeling in the spirit of equality, friendship, humanism, respect for international law have received the approval and support of the international community.

The effectiveness of foreign policy

The recent official visit to China by the high delegation of the Party is not only a particularly important event for Vietnam and China but also very well attended by international opinion. The visits of Party and State leaders to different countries and their participation in many international forums (ASEAN, AIPA, ASEM, APEC, IPU…), as well as the visits of senior leaders of foreign countries to Vietnam reflect a picture diplomatic so dense and rich, vigorously implement the Party’s foreign policy bilaterally and multilaterally, creating an international environment to accelerate national industrialization, modernization and socio-economic development. These results contribute to the country’s common achievements, elevate Vietnam’s role, position and prestige in the international arena.

Secretary-General Nguyên Phu Trong considered that the situation in the coming times still harbors multiple difficulties and challenges, that there is no room for subjectivity, that we must continue to effectively control the COVID pandemic. -19 and new emerging epidemics and at the same time concentrating forces for socio-economic recovery and development. The Party leader pointed out that in the rapidly changing and unpredictable global context, Vietnam, though facing many difficulties, but with the unity of efforts and hearts, the high determination of the whole Party, all the people and of the entire army, will successfully carry out the resolution of the XIII^e National Party Congress, making the country more and more developed, powerful and prosperous to compete with the powers of five continents as desired by President Ho Chi Minh.
