The Christmas Crack, a sort of simplified and salty-sweet version of the millionaire shortbread, very well known across the Atlantic: salted biscuits are drizzled with caramel then coated with chocolate before being decorated. Once the whole thing has cooled down and broken into pieces, you get crunchy chocolate crackers soaked in caramelto serve as a dessert, with coffee or as a snack!

  • 1 packet of savory crackers

  • 230g unsalted butter

  • 220g brown sugar

  • 300g chocolate chips


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  • Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Spread the crackers edge to edge until they cover the entire surface.

  • Pour the butter and sugar into a saucepan. Bring to the boil then cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Pour this caramel over the crackers and spread with a spatula to cover them. Bake for 6 minutes, until the caramel bubbles and permeates the crackers. Take out of the oven.

  • Sprinkle with chocolate chips immediately, let soften for a minute then spread with a spatula until the entire surface is covered with melted chocolate.
